Peter Ackerman is Founding Chair of the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict and Managing Director of Rockport Capital, Inc., a private investment firm. Ackerman has lectured and written extensively on nonviolent conflict. He is co-author of Strategic Nonviolent Conflict: The Dynamics of People Power in the 20th Century (1994) and A Force More Powerful: A Century of Nonviolent Conflict (2001), which charts the history of civilian-based resistance. Ackerman was executive producer of the award-winning documentary "Bringing Down a Dictator," which chronicled the fall of Slobodan Milosevic in Serbia. Ackerman is a member of the board of the Council on Foreign Relations and a member of the Executive Council of the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London. He attended Colgate University as an undergraduate and received a Ph.D. from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, where he currently serves as a member of the International Management Advisory Group.
