HER ROYAL HIGHNESS PRINCESS RYM ALI OF JORDAN
Her Royal Highness Princess Rym Ali, an internationally renowned journalist, is the founder of Jordan Media Institute (JMI). JMI was founded with the goal of establishing a new standard of journalism education in Jordan and the region. Under her leadership, the JMI has educated over 600 journalists from Jordan and around the world. Prior to founding JMI, H.R.H. worked extensively for international broadcasters including CNN, and later worked as a Baghdad correspondent from 2001 until 2004. Her Highness developed her portfolio working for BBC, Dubai TV, Bloomberg TV, Radio Monte Carlo Moyen Orient and United Press International-UPI. As the Executive Commissioner of the Royal Film Commission of Jordan, H.R.H. has played a key role in empowering young filmmakers and scriptwriters in Jordan to share their stories with the world.
HEND SABRY
Hend Sabry started acting at the age of fourteen in the Tunisian movie Samt al Qosoor (Silence of the Palaces) in 1994 and was granted her first best actress award from the Carthage Film Festival at the age of fifteen. Since 1995, Hend played remarkable roles in several Egyptian & Tunisian Films and has received over 25 International awards in appreciation of her achievements as an actress. Many of her films, such as “The Flower of Aleppo,” “The Silences of the Palace,” “The Yacoubian Building,” and “Heliopolis,” among others, tackle serious, substantive subject matter. They seek not only to entertain audiences but also to raise awareness of and ask important questions about issues of social importance facing societies in the Middle East and the world today. She has held several positions in international film festivals such as being the President of the Narrative Jury Doha Tribeca Film Festival in 2012, the 45th International Rotterdam Film Festival in 2015. Most recently, Hend joined the advisory board for the inaugural edition of the El Gouna Film Festival in 2017.
