Fighting Extremism on Middle East Media
There's a vast media landscape in the Middle East - and religious extremists have unfortunately leveraged the power and reach of this media to spread an ideology of intolerance. But in the past few years, new broadcasters have taken up the fight, using their bully pulpit to fight back. This month on America Abroad, we learn about how the issue of religion is handled in the media throughout the Middle East. We hear about moderate religious clerics who are finding new ways to speak to young people, and how some liberal media personalities are finding creative new ways to broadcast programs that advance themes of pluralism and openness.
