In partnership with the Royal Film Commission (RFC) of Jordan, AAM hosted the “Advanced Writing for Film and TV” workshop March 5-8, 2017 in Amman, Jordan. The workshop brought together a team of talented Hollywood creatives – including writers and directors Bill Macdonald and John Luessenhop, as well as actor and producer Jeff Fahey – to work with some of Jordan’s most promising young scriptwriters and filmmakers to help them hone their craft.

AAM worked closely with the RFC to select advanced filmmakers and screenwriters, who currently have projects under development, to participate in the workshop. "The RFC is an ideal partner because of its deep knowledge of the film industry in Jordan and breadth of understanding of the challenges facing young storytellers there," stated AAM founder and president Aaron Lobel. 

The four day workshop kicked-off with a public panel sponsored by Royal Jordanian Airlines. George David, managing director of the RFC, said, "In partnering with AAM on this important initiative, we [the RFC] hope to orient Hollywood to Jordan’s burgeoning and talented film industry. While situated in a difficult neighborhood, storytellers in Jordan have a valuable role to play in the fight against extremism." 

The following three days included private, participant-only sessions, featuring group briefings and intensive one-on-one pitch and feedback discussions with the Hollywood advisors. Participants were required to individually pitch their film/TV projects to the Hollywood instructors. The one-on-one sessions focused on further developing the participants’ concepts. Moving forward, workshop participants will continue to fine tune their craft and expertise under the mentorship of top Hollywood talent.
